Carls Tip: Customer Merge

As the system uses a customer code for its searches, you can not amend a customer surname (as the characters need match the customer code). If you need to change a customer name, you will need to create a new customer, then use the Customer Merge option. Same if there a customer on the system more than once, use the Customer Merge to combine the customer records into one.

From the Customers tab, select Merge.


Search for the 'master' customer, in the case of the customer that has changed their name, this will be the new customer, or if there is more than one of that customer, this will be the customer that you want to keep.

Tick the box to the left of the customer code, this will put the 'master' customer into the top 'Master Details' section.

Now search for all the customers that you want to merge into the Master Customer - this will delete these customers after moving all their history over to the Master Customer. Select the ones you want to merge by selecting the box to the left of the customer code.


At the top it'll show the amount of customers it will merge into the Master. Enter in the Reason for the customer merge as well as your initials.

 DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RESULTS BECAUSE THIS WILL DELETE THE CUSTOMER THAT ARE BEING MERGED AND CAN NOT BE UNDONE.

Select Merge. This will DELETE the merging Customers and put all the history against the Master Customer. If you are not sure on any of the above, its always best to ask first.

Changes/Fixes for the next update

1) Fix in Stock tab - when searching for products, clicking Sales tab, sorting, double clicking and then clicking Edit, it would not work in latest Flash Player. Now fixed.
2) Copy/Paste functionality was lost in the latest version of Chrome due to changes in the way it handles layered objects. Now fixed.
3) CSV importer would not upload any files. Now fixed.
4) Fix to returns debnote despatch for non-serial items - it was removing from BN status rather than FA status
5) You can now drag and drop product images into desired sequence. Can also add an image alt tag to be passed to the api
6) Added manufacturer part number to main stock search
7) Tidied up delivery slot details popup - existing deliveries now sorted by am/pm/ev and sale ref/route sequence.
8) Alert popups have lighter background to make them easier to read
9) Future products are now magenta (#ff00ff) in Stock Control
10) Added drop down carrier service box to manifest screen so that correct service can be selected for manifest exports etc.
11) Fix to stop tabs reloading all the time in latest firefox.
12) Customer surname can now be edited if you have high access

Carls Tip: Messaging Users and Locations.

From the Point of Sale menu, you can create a message for the Whole company, a single user or all users in a location.


Select Messages from the Point of sale menu, select New Message at the bottom of the screen.


Select whether the message if for the whole company, a single user or for a location. Enter in a Subject, Message and Send.

Copy/Paste problem in Chrome

The latest Chrome update broke copy/paste options in RP2. Right clicking a field in POS or any of the back office screens displayed the wrong context menu with no copy/paste options. I've found out why this is and modified RP2 to get round the problem. I will issue an update as soon as I've finished testing.
